Hi! How's it going?
Today's class is going to be about: parts of a house and an apartment.
Let's see. Let's start with: living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, closet, hall, stairs, garage, elevator. And outside of a house a yard.
Those are the parts of a house and an apartment. And we can use questions for simple present, for example:
- Do you live in a house?
- Yes, I do./No, I don't. I live in an apartment.
- Does he live in an apartment?
- Yes, he does./No, he doesn't. He lives in a house.
- Does she live in the city?
- No, she doesn't./She lives in the suburbs./Yes, she does, She lives in the city.
Also we can ask questions like: How many bedrooms does your house have? It has three bedrooms. We can also mention different things that we have or don't have, for example: There's a big kitchen in my house. There are many curtains or there are many pictures. There aren't any armchairs. There isn't a microwave oven. And so, we can continue to mention things that are in our house. For example: armchairs, stove, curtains, pictures, bed, table, cofee table, microwave oven, refrigerator, lamps, sofa, desk, bookcase, dresser, chairs, mirror, rug, TV, cupboards.
So, how can we ask about one thing?
- Is there a rug in the living room?
- Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.
- Are there any curtains on the windows?
- Yes, there are. / No, there aren't.
Any questions?
